Replacement is done with a screwdriver and a hammer. You put the lever in the intermediate position, knock out the axle, unscrew the six screws on the top of the valve.
Then you insert the new hat, punch a hole in the filter position and insert the washer, this will ensure that you don't have the lever backwards.
