Salt chlorinators and salt for chlorine treatment by electrolysis
A salt chlorinator produces chlorine by electrolysing water containing dissolved salt. It is therefore a chlorine-based water treatment method. The system reduces the need to add chlorine products manually but still requires testing and maintenance.
Chlorine generator or system with pH control
The AutoChlor Pixie ERP10 is a standalone chlorine generator. The ASIN AQUA Salt NET Redox is also offered with pH dosing and redox control. The level of automation therefore depends on the features of the particular system.
Salt to meet equipment requirements
The chlorinator manufacturer specifies the required salt concentration and purity. Pool salt is added according to water volume and measured salinity. Salt for another technical use is not automatically a suitable substitute.
Before switching to salt water, confirm that the pump, heater and other components are suitable for the intended concentration. Operation still includes chlorine and pH checks and cleaning the electrolytic cell according to the manual.
