Adjusting hot tub pH based on test results
Choose the product according to the adjustment needed. pH plus raises low pH; pH minus lowers high pH. The target range depends on your water treatment products and hot tub requirements.
Two products with opposite functions
Sparkly POOL pH plus, 1 kg and Sparkly POOL pH minus, 1.5 kg are granular products also intended for hot tubs. Do not add both as a precaution: test the water first to decide which is needed.
Measure for the actual water volume
For a small hot tub, calculate the dose according to the label. The tub's nominal capacity may differ from the amount of water at its normal operating level. After applying and mixing as instructed, check the change before adding more.
If pH repeatedly returns to its previous value or fluctuates significantly, assess alkalinity and operating conditions too. Alternating large doses of pH plus and pH minus may not resolve the cause.
Liquid chemicals for automatic dosing have their own concentrations and dosing requirements. Whatever the product form, follow its safety instructions. Never mix concentrates, and remember that pH adjustment does not replace disinfection.
