The pool pump as part of the filtration circuit
The pump circulates water through the filter and other connected equipment. Selection depends on the required flow of the complete system, pipe routing and the pump's position relative to the water level.
Fixed or variable speed
The Aqua Plus 6 is a self-priming model with a strainer and no speed control. The BADU EcoTouch-Pro II allows speed to be adjusted to the operating requirements. Speed control helps set different outputs for individual modes, but its use must match the needs of the filter and other equipment.
Flow under actual load
The pump curve shows how flow changes with head. Pipework, elbows, the filter and heating all contribute to circuit resistance. The pump must therefore suit normal filtration and any filter backwashing; an indicative pool volume alone is not enough for selection.
Power supply and connections
For a replacement, consider voltage, dimensions, suction and discharge positions and connection type. With salt water, the particular model's permitted salt concentration also matters. Access to the strainer lid and space for dismantling make regular maintenance easier.
