Removable joints and adapters between pipes and threads
A union allows pipework to be disconnected, while an adapter or nipple joins different connection types. This is particularly useful at pumps, filters and equipment removed for servicing.
Union for solvent-weld pipework
The 50 Ă— 50 mm union has two ends for solvent-welding pipes. It separates at the centre section with the union nut. Its product details specify a length of 82 mm and maximum diameter of 80 mm.
Connecting to a threaded inlet
The 50 mm × 1½″ nipple accepts a 50 mm pipe for solvent welding on one side and has a 1½″ male thread on the other. It is intended for a matching female equipment connection.
When replacing parts of an old union, the nut thread and seating surface matter as well as the size. A flat gasket or O-ring seals differently from a pipe thread; installation must follow the joint's design.
