Shut-off valves and check valves have different roles
A ball valve closes a pipe branch manually or using an actuator. A check valve allows water to flow in the specified direction and closes when flow reverses. Each fitting therefore meets a different operating need.
Valve for isolating equipment
The Plimex 50 mm has solvent-weld ends and unions on both sides. Valves before and after a device allow it to be isolated from the rest of the pipework; safely shut down and depressurise the circuit before dismantling.
Check valve for hoses
The 32/38 mm spring-loaded check valve connects to hoses with suitable hose tails and clips. Follow the marked flow direction and conditions in the manual when installing. It adds resistance to the circuit, which must be included when selecting a pump.
Matching pipe diameter alone is not enough when replacing a valve: installation length matters, and a replacement body must also match the nuts and sealing surfaces.
