Heating a pool from an existing heat source
A heat exchanger transfers heat between separate heating and pool circuits. Selection therefore starts with the heat source and its operating temperatures, rather than pool volume alone.
Heat exchangers and recommended pool volumes
| Model | Output* | Our recommended pool volume** |
|---|---|---|
| OVB 70 | 20 kW | Up to 20 mÂł |
| OVB 130 | 38 kW | Up to 40 mÂł |
| OVB 180 | 53 kW | Up to 60 mÂł |
| OVB 250 | 73 kW | Up to 80 mÂł |
| OVB 300 | 88 kW | Up to 100 mÂł |
| OVB 500 | 145 kW | Up to 140 mÂł |
* Heat exchanger output depends on temperatures and flow rates. The nominal output of the OVB range is stated for a 60 °C difference between the incoming heating water and pool water.
** Indicative recommendations from our shop. Before installation, assess the heat source's output and temperature, flow in both circuits, the desired heating rate and pool heat losses.
Boiler, heat pump or solar collector?
A heat exchanger does not generate heat; it transfers it between two separate circuits. With a low-temperature heat source, do not assume the catalogue output without checking the actual operating conditions. A larger exchanger will not increase the boiler's or heat pump's own output.
For saltwater, choose only a heat exchanger with compatibility explicitly confirmed by the manufacturer, such as a suitable titanium model.
The OVB 130 has a ¾″ heating circuit connection, while the OVB 180 has a 1″ connection. Both versions use a 1½″ female thread on the pool side. Connection sizes are another specific consideration when designing the system.
