Sand filtration: a complete pump set or a separate filter tank
A sand filter traps suspended debris in its filter media. To work correctly, the tank size, pump's operating flow rate and resistance of the whole circulation system must be matched. Filtration does not replace water disinfection.
Two different supply options
ROMA 400 with a Preva 33 pump is a filtration set comprising a tank, pump, six-way valve, pressure gauge and connecting pipework. The tank takes 50 kg of filter sand.
FLEX 300 is a separate filter tank for 20 kg of sand. The package includes a valve and the other listed accessories, but no pump. Replacing an older tank can therefore be approached differently from buying a complete set.
Selection and maintenance
The stated pool volume is a guide. Actual flow depends on pipe length and diameter, elevation differences and other equipment. The pump must also provide adequate flow to backwash the filter correctly.
The tank manual specifies the amount and grade of filter media. Backwash according to operating conditions and the instructions, and always switch the pump off before changing multiport valve positions. There is no single media replacement interval that applies to all systems and materials.
