Sample calculation and cutting plan – 8 × 4 × 1.85 m pool
Specification: rectangular pool without steps. Roll width is 2.05 m. The walls are cut from the full liner height of 2.05 m (even for a 1.85 m-deep pool, the remaining approximately 20 cm cannot be reused: the liner folds at the top and bottom, leaving at most a narrow strip). Always cut wall pieces 10 cm longer.
Cutting plan (each piece must remain whole)
Walls (each in one piece, +10 cm):
- 8.1 m + 8.1 m + 4.1 m + 4.1 m = 24.4 linear metres
Floor (2.05 m-wide strips):
- the floor is 4 m wide → you need 2 strips (2 × 2.05 = 4.10 m)
- 2 × 8.0 m = 16.0 linear metres
Total length of pieces
24.4 linear metres (walls) + 16.0 linear metres (floor) = 40.4 linear metres
Why “25 m + 15.4 m” is not enough
Pieces are cut consecutively from the roll and must remain whole. For example, the best arrangement in one 25 m roll is:
- Roll 1: 8.1 + 8.1 + 4.1 + 4.1 = 24.4 m (approximately 0.6 m remains)
- Additional material sold by the metre: 8.0 + 8.0 = 16.0 m (for 2 floor strips)
Result: 1 full roll (25 m) + an additional 16.0 linear metres
Allow a larger reserve for pools with steps, benches, rounded corners or overflow channels.
