Flocculants and algaecides serve different purposes
A flocculant helps small particles form larger clusters, which are removed as specified for that product. An algaecide treats algae. These functions are distinct even when a product combines several effects.
Clarifying water with filtration
CTX-37 Xtreme Floc is a tablet product for clarifying water in combination with sand filtration. Liquid flocculants, cartridges and tablets can have different application methods. Suitability for a cartridge filter or other media must be stated for the individual product.
Algae treatment
Alba Super, 1 l is a non-foaming algaecide. It does not replace a flocculant or routine disinfectant and pH testing.
Cloudiness can be caused by debris, algae, minerals or filter condition, so assess the water and filter operation first. Switching the system off overnight or dosing twice a week is not a universal procedure for every flocculant. Follow the product label for dosing, any settling period and vacuuming away sediment.
Use biocides safely. Always read the label and product information before use.
