Chemicals for regular hot tub care
Water care combines a suitable disinfection system, testing, pH adjustment and filter cleaning. In a hot tub, the small water volume, temperature and bathing load also matter.
Bromine or active oxygen care
The bromine starter kit contains 1 kg of bromine tablets, an algaecide, a bromine tester, 1.5 kg of pH minus and a floating dispenser with a thermometer. Testing must suit the bromine product being used.
The active oxygen hot tub kit combines 1 kg of OXI tablets, an activator, 1.5 kg of pH minus, a floating dispenser with a thermometer and an O₂ tester. The activator and oxidising component perform different roles in this system.
Care beyond treating the water
The filter cartridge and circulation pipework need maintenance according to the hot tub manual. A defoamer suppresses foam, but does not replace disinfection or address the cause of contamination. Pipe cleaner has its own application procedure, usually associated with a water change as specified for that product.
Do not switch care systems by mixing leftover products. Follow each product's instructions for dosing and when bathing can resume; a chlorine-free label alone does not guarantee suitability for people with allergies.
Use biocides safely. Always read the label and product information before use.
