PVC tees for branching pipework
A tee creates a branch in the pipework, for example to supply another part of a pool system. It is selected by the main pipe and branch diameters. A reducing tee has different sizes on these sections.
Standard and reducing tees
A 50 mm PVC tee joins three 50 mm pipes by solvent welding. A 63 × 50 mm reducing tee connects different pipe sizes.
Allow for the length of pipe inserted into the fitting when assembling the system. This is particularly important for repairs in confined spaces, where all three ends need to be connected.
Tee with a temperature sensor pocket
A 50 mm tee with a side-entry sensor pocket allows a temperature sensor to be fitted in the pipework. The pocket itself does not measure temperature; the sensor's dimensions and mounting must suit both the pocket and the control system.
Frequently asked questions
Do all tees have three connections of the same size?
No. A standard tee has equal diameters, while a reducing tee joins different pipe sizes.
Is a tee with a sensor pocket a complete thermometer?
No. The pocket is a mounting component for a temperature sensor.
