Pool Specialist Review
- + Supplementary UV treatment of water passing through the lamp
- + Durable AISI 316 stainless steel construction
- + Simple installation and maintenance instructions
- + Suitable for a wide range of applications
- - Possible risk of secondary contamination without combination with other technologies
"The UVC-TECH 75W UV lamp provides an effective and safe way to disinfect pool water. By photochemically damaging harmful micro-organisms such as bacteria and viruses, it treats water passing through the lamp. UV does not provide residual disinfection throughout the pool, so use the lamp alongside ongoing disinfection, such as chlorination."

Effective disinfection
UV lamp UVC-TECH 75W effectively destroys RNA and DNA, enzymes and other microorganisms that can be harmful to health. Its use will ensure high quality and clean pool water.
Instructions UVC-TECH 75W UV lamp

Ultraviolet disinfection is one of the technologies that have been increasingly used recently to improve drinking and swimming pool water treatment technology. The principle of disinfection consists of photochemical damage to RNA and DNA, proteins, enzymes or other biologically important macromolecules.
The effectiveness of disinfection depends on the dose of UV radiation, the type of UV lamps used and their arrangement relative to the direction of flow of drinking or pool water. In order to correctly select the appropriate type of UV equipment, it is necessary to determine and guarantee the required UV dose, depending on the flow rate and water quality in terms of its permeability, i.e. the concentration and type of dissolved and undissolved substances that affect the reflection or absorption of UV radiation.
The ability to combine UV with other treatment technologies results in high water quality. The advantage is the reduction of operational requirements or saving of dosing chemistry and safe and easy operation in automatic mode. The disadvantage is the possibility of secondary contamination, so UV radiation alone is not suitable for hygienic purposes. In practice, it is therefore combined with chlorination, for example.
How to install the UV lamp – installation instructions
The UV-C lamp emits radiation at a wavelength of 253.7 nanometres, which has a lethal effect on bacteria, viruses and fungi (including Legionella). The polished stainless steel interior reflects UV radiation back, increasing efficiency by 35%.
1) Installing the earth connection
Install the earth connection as shown in the diagram below:

2) Installing the UV lamp
The ideal installation location is downstream of the filter. Ensure that water flows through the lamp whenever it is switched on (ideally connect it to the same socket as the filter pump, or switch it via a flow switch). Install the lamp so that replacing the bulb in future is easy, leaving enough space above the lamp to remove the transformer connection and replace the bulb.

a) Remove the UV lamp (P) from its cardboard packaging and insert it into the glass sleeve (M). Carefully connect the lamp base to the transformer connector (L) and ensure that the glass sleeve (M) is pushed sufficiently far into the lamp housing (U).
b) Attach the retaining clips (O) to the wall and snap the UV unit into them. Check that the seals (P) are positioned correctly.
c) Use the most suitable connection: 63 mm solvent-weld, 50 mm solvent-weld, 1½″ female thread, 38 mm hose or 32 mm hose. PVC-U adhesive is required in all cases, as even the hose adapter must be glued into the flange.
d) Connect the earthed transformer to the mains and check that the lamp lights up.
Inspect and clean the UV lamp twice a year, especially if dirt builds up on the glass sleeve (M), as this reduces efficiency.
Replace the UV lamp after 9,000 operating hours, even if it still lights up, because the effective wavelength changes over time and, after extended use, most of the output falls outside the active range.
Follow electrical installation regulations. If you are unsure, have an electrician carry out the connection.
Do not immerse the unit in water and keep it out of reach of children. Disconnect it from the mains before handling it. The cable, transformer and connector cannot be replaced individually; the complete assembly must be purchased. If freezing temperatures are possible, disconnect the unit and drain all water from it.
The unit is made of AISI 316 stainless steel. However, higher salt concentrations in the water can damage it. Do not allow excessively warm water (above 45°C) into the unit, as the plastic parts could deform. Keep the unit out of direct sunlight, which accelerates ageing of the plastic and could cause the transformer to overheat in summer.
