Solvent-weld caps for PVC pipe ends
A solvent-weld cap permanently closes a PVC pipe end, such as an unused branch. It is selected by the outside diameter of the pipe it fits over.
Cap for 50 mm pipe
The 50 mm PVC cap has an internal diameter of 50 mm and fits over a pipe with the same outside diameter. During a repair, leave enough pipe length for full insertion into the cap.
Prepare the joint with cleaner and adhesive intended for the particular PVC pipework. Follow the adhesive instructions for curing time before filling and starting the system.
If the branch will need to be reopened
If you plan to connect additional equipment later, consider a removable closure in advance. Depending on the connection, you can use a male-threaded plug or a female-threaded cap. A plain pipe first needs the appropriate adapter.
Frequently asked questions
Can a solvent-weld cap be removed and reused?
It is not designed for normal dismantling. A future connection usually requires cutting off the closed pipe end.
Does the 50 mm cap go inside or over the pipe?
For this cap, the pipe with a 50 mm outside diameter inserts into the cap.
