OVB 70 pool heat exchanger – 20 kW, pools up to 20 m³
| Rated heat output | 20 kW |
|---|---|
| Recommended pool volume – indicative | Up to 20 m³ |
| Material | AISI 316 stainless steel |
| Pool circuit connection | 1½″ female thread |
| Heating circuit connection | ¾″ female thread |
| Salt water | Not suitable |
Important for sizing: Our indicative recommendation is for pools up to 20 m³. Final sizing also depends on the heat source, its water temperature and the flow rates in both circuits.
Rated output applies when the inlet heating water is 60 °C warmer than the inlet pool water. The catalogue operating point uses 80 °C heating water and 20 °C pool water at the inlets. A cooler heat source can substantially reduce the transferred heat output.
Pool specialist’s opinion
The OVB 70 is a useful option when you already have a suitable heat source and want to transfer its energy to your pool. For pools up to 20 m³, check the heating-water temperature and flow as part of sizing. The 20 kW rating is conditional and is not the output at every operating point.
Advantages
- Separate water circuits keep heating and pool water apart
- AISI 316 stainless steel for correctly treated, non-saline pool water
- 20 kW rated output under catalogue conditions
Points to consider
- Not suitable for saltwater pools
- Output depends on heat-source temperature and flow
Pool heating using an existing heat source
This tubular exchanger transfers heat from the heating circuit to the pool water through a metal heat-transfer surface. The circuits remain separate. Vagner lists boilers, heat pumps and solar collectors as possible heat sources; actual operating conditions must be checked for each installation.
Selection advice
Our indicative recommendation is for pools up to 20 m³.
For a low-temperature heat source, have the output checked at its actual water temperature. A larger exchanger cannot increase the boiler or heat pump’s own output. Heating speed also depends on the pool cover, ambient conditions and heat losses.
Connections and key specifications
| Rated heat output | 20 kW |
|---|---|
| Recommended pool volume – indicative | Up to 20 m³ |
| Material | AISI 316 stainless steel |
| Pool circuit connection | 1½″ female thread |
| Heating circuit connection | ¾″ female thread |
| Salt water | Not suitable |
Catalogue operating point specified by Vagner
| Heating water – inlet / outlet | 80 / 65 °C |
|---|---|
| Heating-water flow at catalogue operating point | 1.2 m³/h |
| Heating-water pressure drop at catalogue operating point | 0.5 kPa |
| Pool water – inlet / outlet | 20 / 21.7 °C |
| Pool-water flow at catalogue operating point | 10 m³/h |
| Pool-water pressure drop at catalogue operating point | 11 kPa |
| Heat transfer surface area | 0.18 m² |
These flow rates describe the catalogue operating point; they are not an automatic setting for every installation. Pipework, circulation and control must be designed for the actual system.
Installation and heating control
- Check both circuit connections and available flow before ordering.
- Provide suitable mounting, venting and service isolation.
- Controls must prevent unwanted heating when pool-water circulation stops. Select the thermostat, sensor and heat-source controls to suit the installation design.
- Maintain water chemistry as required by the manual; concentrated pool chemicals must not act directly on the exchanger.
Water compatibility
This stainless-steel model is not intended for salt water. For a salt-chlorinated pool, choose an exchanger explicitly approved by its manufacturer for that use, such as a suitable titanium model.
We can help select an exchanger and suitable controls. Please provide your pool volume, heat-source type, water temperature and circulation details.
